DRUGS AND THE YOUTH

Hello! I have come to disturb you today again 😂😁😁

Today I will be talking about Drugs, drugs, drugs.

Growing up when I heard someone mention drugs, I would assume it to be paracetamol or flagyll (for those of us that have running stomach😆😆) or even artesunate for malaria. This is not the case anymore😭😭.

These days if someone mentions drugs, you would have to confirm if they are the stated above or the other kind of drugs that can kill human beings ( forget Nafdac number o).

Only last week, young men or boys (because their ages range from mid 30s to mid 20s) if you like died from overdose of these illegal and deadly drugs (and that is because they are in the news o). The shocking thing is how 'sololy' or how unnoticed they have been consuming these substances such that even their family members are unaware. A sister to one of the deceased vehemently denied that the brother ever took drugs on thenet.ng. Well, I am not surprised 😒.

From a personal experience,  I was once invited to a party at a highbrow private location in lagos by a young group of people (when I say young people in the range of 18-22). When I got there, people were excited and couldn't wait to get the party started but as time progressed the party started to become dull. Unknown to me that these kids were taking different drugs and it was having an effect on them. One after the other, people who couldn't bear the 'highness' started to leave or feel drowsy and sleep (except for some of us that were just watching in amazement).

There is no way the parents or relatives of those kids would have known what they were up to that night or that weekend as it was a weekend long celebration😒. This is because at home they look like the best kids ever i.e faithful, loyal and honest (not the Nigerian pledge) but when they are 'free', they wear a 'different clothing'. A common sense senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria suggested that parents looked after their children closely as he always saw most of them taking these drugs at the shrine everytime (exkiss sir, what were you doing there everytime too😯😒).

The solution to this problem in my opinion is to stop the supply of these banned substances and clamp down on the existing ones in the 'air'. And just like the Philippines, put stringent measures and sanctions for drug peddlers. They can't continue to kill the leaders of tomorrow just like that. Once this is done, we can now talk about charity (yet to see her tho) which begins at home whereby parents would have to keep a close watch on their children (Yes I know it's almost impossible, but a trial is better nothing at all).

My prayer is that someday drug peddlers and users would realise the damage caused and change their ways. Amen.

Enough is enough.

God bless Nigeria.

Till I come your way again. Same time, Same station. Remain  blessed.
